From what I can gather he was a Catholic mystic, monk and writer, who also studied Eastern philosophies, wrote beautiful poetry and fell in love with a nurse late in his life, but never gave into his desires and stayed true to his vows. And he loved live jazz. =)
Who is he? I never heard of him or this saying before…interesting.
